Natural Stone
The Right Effects
In many of our projects in the Santa Barbara, Montecito and Conejo Valley areas, we have also created and installed customized natural stone fireplaces and fire pits. They can be used as flooring and paving as well as for cladding walls which undoubtedly make this an inseparable part of any landscaping project. The icing on the cake is that there are a number of stones you can choose from- flagstone, rubble rock, sandstone, marble; granite, travertine, slate and limestone are just few of the types available. When Epik Masonry creates any kind of hardscaping with natural stone, we may use a mix and match of different stones for added effect.
- Pathways - Flagstone is commonly used for pathways and walkways as well as driveways. They look very different in comparison to concrete or brick pathways and also blend with the architectural elements in many homes. Natural stone can be used in areas that have stack stone walls or fire pits and it lends a very cohesive look to the entire space. We ensure that the best flagstone of the right thickness is used, as the thinner ones are prone to cracking and war.
- Dry-Stack Natural Stone Walls - Garden perimeters that are made with natural stone look amazingly stunning. These beautiful garden walls effectively complement the plantings and we take care to engineer them to perfection which makes them last for decades. The attractive layered look is great for a dry-stack garden bed, while much heavier stones are used for the retaining walls. We can use low height stone stacking to border the flower beds and line the pathways.
- Fireplaces and Fire Pits - These elements have now become an essential part of many a home in and around Ventura. We have a number of requests from homeowners, for installation of natural stone fireplaces and fire pits. We use ledge stone or can also use stacked stone without any bonding. If you so prefer, we can create concrete fireplaces and fire pits and then clad them with natural stone.
